Leila Candles was started by Leila Morrissey, a creative stylist and photographer based in Melbourne. Like many others, Leila lost a great amount of work during Covid-19. During Melbourne's extended periods of lockdown, she started making candles—an idea that she'd had for years but finally had time to pursue.

With a background in beauty therapy and essential oils, Leila is very passionate about choosing the right fragrance to suit the person. Her candles are handmade and created as sustainably as possible. The soy wax she uses is non-toxic, pesticide-free and biodegradable, and contains no palm oil or petroleum. She uses natural cotton wicks. All the packaging is recyclable and or compostable. From the cardboard boxes to the shipping peanuts, as little plastic as possible is used.
